Simple Truths Restore Willpower

1 - The Strwbrry Philosophy

Strwbrry represents a bit more than just a naming scheme. Strwbrry is the goal, not a name. I do not call this Obsidian vault the ‘Strwbrry Protocol Lightning Notes’ because “Notes” wasn’t cool enough (but it helps), I called it that because this vault was created and configured in a special organized fashion that would not be nearly useful to me without.

2 - The Strwbrry Lightning Note Vault (SPLN)

The SPLN is the practical record of the Strwbrry philosophy – a knowledge system built with Markdown. It’s designed as an evolving resource, balancing high structure with speed of entry. You can explore the publicly shared portion of the vault here at strwbrry.io, which is rendered using Quartz.

3 - The Strwbrry Vault Digital Garden (SPDG)

If you’ve spent even a couple minutes searching through Obsidian related content (videos, blogs, media posts) I’m sure you’ve quickly found that the allegory of creating a public “Digital Garden” is quite popular and trendy. I.. had no intent of doing such a thing, but it seems by designating a section of my SPLN to be openly available, I realize I am basically already there. So here, let’s be honest, this is indeed one of those trendy “Digital Gardens”. Welcome.

Why do I care

Mmmm, that is entirely up to you 🤷‍♂️. But maybe you enjoy purusing through someone elses journal, take a look at Strwbrry Garden - Markdown Vault if you would like to know what in-fact the SPLN is. Like the idea? Think you could make it better yourself? You probably can (at least for you). The entire point is finding the right ideas and insirpations for organization and making something that you actually use.

In honest terms though, there are clear and direct reasons why making this system was beneficial.

  1. Simplicity: Trade in a learning curve, for a growing curve. Not much to learn about a system when you're making it first..
  2. Purpose: There is nothing I don't need, because if I didn't **need** it, I wouldn't have added it
  3. Ownership: **I** made* this. There is no user retention strategy more effective than being the **founding** user. Trust me, try spending a couple weeks tailoring your own wallet and see how often you leave it dusty in a drawer.

“By made, I mean cobbled together existing products and ideas that I found suited me. No shame in it, not like I’m profiting off of it”

Exploring the Vault (md.strwbrry.io)

Navigational Aids

The public vault at strwbrry.io utilizes several features common in digital gardens built with Quartz:

  • Wikilinks: Internal links connect related ideas.
  • Backlinks: See which notes link to the current page (usually at the bottom).
  • Graph View: Visualize connections between notes (often in the right sidebar).
  • Explorer: Navigate the folder structure (often in the left sidebar).
  • Search: Find notes quickly (usually in the header or sidebar).
  • Callouts: Like this one, used to highlight information.
